It’s time to Renovate! Destination Location Homes are Sizzling Hot!

Make it your Perfect home.

Purchase price, location, drive to work, schools, square footage, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, amenities and upgrades? Checking all boxes when searching for your “Dream Home” can be an overwhelming and seemingly impossible task.

For many buyers, building a new home may seem like a great answer to “check all boxes,” but with many of the area’s most desired subdivision’s at capacity, that too presents its own challenges.

Enter the Burns’ family journey. Their home buying experience with Weichert Realty shows that with creativity, vision and desire, redesigning and remodeling once you find the perfect “Destination Location” home can make much more sense!

After a meticulous search, Linda and Daniel Burns revisited and purchased a luxury home that I had listed. It was located in a prime, gated subdivision on the south side of Mishawaka with 6.5 acres on the St. Joe River and Spring Fed Lake.

The home was quality built and well cared for. As beautiful as it was, the Burns family felt it needed to be modernized and adjusted to suit their style and family of five, including three active teenagers.

“We immediately fell in love with the setting and location of this home,” says Linda Burns. She adds, “Our family cherishes nature, peacefulness and privacy, yet we needed a location close to our school, work and faith communities. It truly is a slice of heaven in the heart of a busy city.”

Linda’s vision translated perfectly with her contractor Bruce Dyksen of Dyksen and Sons Builders, who removed and moved kitchen walls, as well as the original custom kitchen cabinets and granite counter tops. This allowed for Linda’s vision of a completely new and magnificent redesigned chef’s kitchen and flex space to emerge and be enjoyed by all!

The second floor transformed bedrooms to en suites, adding a new fourth bedroom en suite in an available space to fit the needs of the Burns’ three teenagers. “Repurposing” 90% of the building materials, original kitchen, moldings and more was first on the Burns’ mind....a more creative space was created with the original kitchen repurposed to the already finished lower level for greater entertaining.

End-all results? A pre-loved property the Burns can call their own, a quality built home in a destination subdivision and location taking the focus…And celebrating happy new owners of this beautiful “Destination Location” property who now call their vision and dream “Home Sweet Home!”
