Q. What is it that makes your clinic unique?
Dr. Warren: Our clinic is one of only two spine centers in Indiana certified in CBP® (Clinical Biophysics). We focus on the structural correction of the spine through unique Mirror-Image® adjustments, exercise and traction.
While I make sure to have only the best staff I can find, I tell them we have to be a team first. We feel privileged to help so many people and we try to have fun as we work together to help our patients. Our patients are working hard on their health care goals, and we want to make it as enjoyable and relaxing as possible!
Q. What makes your type of therapy stand-out and why is it different?
Dr. Warren: If you think of your body as a house, symptoms are like the “creaking floors,” the “tight windows,” or the “cracking drywall.” Many times, there is an underlying structural problem with the foundation…the real reason for all the other secondary household problems. We could keep putting oil on the tight windows, nails in the creaking floors, or keep patching the cracks in the drywall. But, what needs to happen…is fix the foundation first, and then all the other problems stop re-occurring.
Our spines are the same way! Many doctors do a good job at helping patients with the secondary complaints like: Neck/Back Pain, Sciatica, Arm Pain, Numbness/Tingling, Degenerating Discs. While we understand that those complaints are important, we have to remember that those complaints are secondary symptoms resulting from a “primary structural condition.”
So, we look at the underlying structure of the spine (the inner framework, the main support beams) and develop a plan to correct the primary structural condition. Then, we address the secondary symptoms.
Q. Let’s say I have a structural condition with my spine that is causing my fibromyalgia or sciatica, how long will it take to get better?
Dr. Warren: In most cases, a structural spine issue has been developing over time and cannot be fixed in one visit. We tell our patients to look at our relationship as a personal trainer. If you were out of shape, how many work-outs would it take to get back in shape…1 or 2 (laughing)? All kidding aside, it can take a significant amount of health club visits to make a measurable difference. Structural spine abnormalities are not resolved in a single visit either. Each individual’s care is entirely dependent on the severity of their spine.
Q. What about the equipment?
Dr. Warren: Every piece of equipment in our rehabilitation area is specifically designed to help treat all the different types of spinal problems we encounter from our patients. One helps correct the sideways types of curves in the spine called Scoliosis, another one helps many of our patients get rid of their Dowager’s Hump (“Granny Humps”), and there are many others. Our exercise equipment is designed to help strengthen the muscles in the mirror-image (opposite) direction of a person’s problem, not just the core (all-over) strengthening.
Q. Are there other services offered to help patients who are hurting?
Dr Warren: We use gentle, “mirror-image” adjustments along with massage therapy, cold laser therapy, DTS disc decompression therapy, and many other more typical therapy services.
